Somebody sent you here, or the algorithm slipped, or you typed something hopeful into a search bar at 1 AM. Either way: yes, there is an alternative rave in Lagos. It is called Pandemonium, it happens in Lekki, and this is what your first one will actually be like.
The sound
Not amapiano. Not gqom. Not the three songs every speaker in every district is playing tonight in three different tempos. Pandemonium is darkwave, post-punk, shoegaze, EBM, industrial: guitar drone, 4/4 kick drums, and the kind of synth that sounds like a cathedral on fire. If you can name three songs played in the last hour, we have failed. That is not a bug report. It is the first house rule.
The line-ups are at least 70% Lagos, always, and the poster is a list, not a hierarchy. There are no headliners. The residents you will meet are drunkgiantbird (darkwave, shoegaze), Scandamile Mercury (post-punk, noise), and No Cool Kids (EBM, industrial), plus whoever else the night has claimed.
The clock
The rite begins at ten. The rite ends at half past five, or when the last person leaves, whichever comes later. The one number you must actually respect is 2:30 AM: the door closes then, hard, and after that you are outside. Nobody will be sorry. Come before midnight and you will understand the room by the time it peaks.
The door and the ticket
Tickets are pre-sold at /tickets. The address rides with the ticket, the code gets you in, one scan, no transfers, and the price does not surge. You will know the door by the line of black at it. It is 18 and over.
What to wear
The dress code is whatever you wore to the funeral. Black is not mandatory; it is just what happens. Wear shoes you can stand in until dawn.
Phones
One photo at the door, one at dawn. The middle is between you and the room. No filming the band. This is the rule people thank us for at 4 AM, when they are dancing like nobody is filming them, because nobody is.
Safety, plainly
Stewards in red keep the room. Anyone making it weird leaves before they finish making it weird, no second warnings. No homophobia; the footer of this site says so and the door enforces it. If something is wrong, find red and say so.
What it costs
Tiers are listed on the tickets page: one body, two, five, and an invite-only tier for the congregation's own. Buy early; the room is small on purpose.
That's the whole catechism. Come quiet, leave loud, or the reverse: the room accepts both. The song will not be familiar. That is the point.
